How to pay tolls in several countries with the same on-board unit
In future, the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) will enable you to pay tolls in all European countries with just one on-board unit.
For this purpose, it is necessary that the device (OBU) carried in the vehicle for toll collection is compatible with the different toll systems in Europe. In addition to the microwave technology used in Austria (DSRC – Dedicated Short Range Communication), there are also, for example, satellite-based tolling systems (GNSS – Global Navigation Satellite System).
EETS
There are now several EETS providers in Europe. If you are interested in an EETS device, please contact one of the above EETS Providers directly.
TOLL2GO
With TOLL2GO, you have also been able to pay tolls in Austria with your German on-board unit from Toll Collect since 1 September 2011. For the first time, it has been possible to establish compatibility between a microwave-based and a satellite-based toll system.
emotach
Since the start of the Austrian toll system on 1 January 2004, you have been able to use the Swiss on-board unit emotach to pay the toll in both countries.
